Hello, I'm George Amad and I reside in Melbourne Australia.
I am the Owner/controller of 'Father's Home
Page'. I am privileged to know the
Rev. Father Maximiadis
,
whom I call '
Pappou
' ( old man ).
Father is my unfaltering friend ( of a 32-year
duration ), and mentor. He now lives alone in far northern
New South Wales; 1,559 kilometres from Melbourne. His
health and high years restricts his ability to be as active
nowadays. I keep a vigilant and supportive eye on him,
and hope to retain his presence on the internet for some
time to come.
As you might have guessed - or eventually
discover - this is a non-commercial site, with minuscule
reciprocal advertising for gratuitous services given to our
site for your convenience and enjoyment.
'Father's Home Page' is an enterprise of love,
and runs on a shoestring budget. If you derive some intellectual
entertainment from our site, all our endeavours would have been
worth our while.
Ours is an heterogeneous site with an amalgam of the spiritual
and secular free from pietism, fundamentalism; and sectarianism.
It's a site for those interested in empirical and hypothetical
constructs from the perspectives of the scientific, paranormal,
preternatural; and supernatural.
'The Archive' is the recommended place to begin because it's the
doorway through which all the pages on the site are accessed.
It's user friendly, very navigable, and on par with all the pages
throughout the site. If you wish, you may continue reading the
Synopsis, or

'The Archive' now.
The 'Quotations for this Month' page is a
mélange of spiritual and secular quotations
which may be in German, French,
Greek
or Latin, followed by an English translation. The quotations are
changed on the page on the first day of each month. This is a
popular page. Some of our visitors call in monthly solely to
read the quotations. I hope that you might consider joining them.
If you wish to read the quotations please

Dramatic Art: Greek Mythology, Foundation of Western Dramatic Tradition "
The article 'Dramatic Art: Greek Mythology, Foundation of
Western Dramatic Tradition' suggests that western dramatic
tradition were extrapolated from ancient Hellenic culture. It
further suggests that the purist form (
Aristotelian formula
of theoretical construction
) was strayed from by Britain's
William Shakespeare, and France's Victor Hugo. One of our
visitors commenting on this particular page said: "
It should be a recommended page stop for anybody interested in the
origins of Dramatic Arts
". So if you're artistically inclined
you may wish to
press
here.
'Father's Photo Album' is a small collection of casual photographs
of people, and places he has visited. When he becomes fully
au fait
with his 'Olympus' camera he hopes to take more photographs to include
in his Album. If you're interested to view his Album, you may like to
press

The 'Graffiti Wall' is an unfettered open space for anybody
who has something they consider worthwhile saying.
The 'Wall' has attracted some strong criticism, presumably from
the far
right
, regarding some postings, especially
'Father's Views on the
Realpolitik
of Imperialism in
Iraq'. We hope that you'll make this a stopoff whilst navigating
through this site. And if you like, please consider sharing your
views with other visitors, by making an entry for publication on
the 'Wall'.

The Forum is a democratic platform for debating on
diverse topics, and to provide intellectual entertainment.
Anyone is free to suggest a topic, for example, 'Resolved:
Capitol punishment should be abolished'. You are invited
to argue either for or against a resolution. Others are invited
to submit rebuttals from the negative side. All rebuttals must
be supported with evidence, and participants are requested
to retain an objective academic approach.

'George's Favourite Sites' on the internet is committed
to accumulating what I consider to be the most authoritative
web sites on Middle Eastern affairs. I am of Lebanese
extraction and hope and pray that the Israeli-Palestinian
conflicts will soon come to an end, and that both sides of
the agonizing political, religious, and social divide will
soon coexist in mutual respect and understandings of each
other though professing different ideologies.
Each individual site is a well-spring of copious information.
A visitor in Mexico City e-mailed me to say that she was:
"... in the page for half a day and hadn't even visit half of
them". I hope that you'll visit these sites also. And I also
hope that you'll gain sympathetic understandings of both
the Palestinian and Israeli plights, and pray that they may
soon enjoy peaceful coexistence through a peaceful
resolution for the benefit of all.

The 'Open Letters' page is composed of letters written to:
Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda Paramahamsa Chaitanya
( Manila Philippines ), Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupãda's
International Society for Krishna Consciousness ( Los Angeles
U.S. ), and entertainer Mr Rod McLennan ( Melbourne Australia ).
These letters argue against misappropriation of the Torah, and
Christian Scripture by
soi-disant
Gurus to Hinduize the
unwary. And rebuking entertainer Mr Rod McLennan for wearing
a T-shirt trivializing the mass murder of Jews by the Nazis.
Press

'The Guest Book' is an autonomous page for visitors to enter
favourable, or unfavourable, comments about our site. There is
a facility to rate our pages, or forward private correspondence
directly to Father. And a section to view our 'Privacy and
Practices Statement', and to read visitor's letters.
Press
here if you care to visit.
'Father's Favourite Web Sites' includes people whom he has
admired and respected for their contributions towards humanitarian
or cultural activities. He also includes specialized journals and
magazines, academic institutions, and some philanthropic
organizations.

'The Tarot Archetypes in Poetry and Prose' is a brief
article outlining two of the Major Arcana, 'The Wheel of
Fortune' and 'The Devil', with emphasis upon an umbrella
perspective of poetry and prose.

'A Failed Mission for Prostitutes' is an account of
an endeavour by Father who in February 1977 established a
welfare agency for prostitutes and their infants; in Melbourne
Australia.
The objective of the Mission was to provide a
specialized place, for prostitutes, to find temporary relief,
re-establishment for their sense of purpose, and identity.

or here for the
English
version,
'Astrology - A Cursory Gaze' suggests that astrology has
re-emerged to become a part of Western popular culture as
a consequence of the emergence of the utopian 'new age'
counterculture of the 1960s. And poses the question whether
or not astrology is void of any intellectual value.

The article 'Brain Damage Associated with Alcohol Abuse'
is merely a précis and not a formal clinical profile of the
subject. The article includes anatomical and physiological
components of the brain. The effects alcohol has on the
afferent neurones, and efferent fibres. It concludes with a
soupçon of information about behavioural effects, organ
systems, anterograde amnesia, three consecutive phases
in physical dependence syndrome; and Wernicke-Korsakoff's
syndrome. If you're interested to read this article
press
here.
'Peering Father's Memoirs, Musings, Rambles, Moots, and
Anecdotes' is a mélange, of Father's views and opinions, or as he
would put it:
"...abstractions and reflections from books,
people, and in a small measure my personal experiences".
Father introduces his themes as "little rambles" which include:
The Call, The Cain and Abel Narrative, The Story, Individualism
and Monotheism, Fundamentalism, The Jehovah's Witnesses,
and Political Correctness. Father has not gone uncensured
regarding particular topics. I welcome visitors to air their
views or opinions, even though they may conflict with Father's.
However, please air them out in the open for all to see in the
'Guest Book', or debate the topic with other visitors, or Father,
in 'The Forum'. If you're interested to read some of his "rambles"
press

'Introducing Father Maximiadis' the charismatic, enigmatic figure
behind this web site.
During his active years, father borrowed Biblical concepts to use as
blueprints for engineering spiritual and social works principally for
the powerless, homeless and felonious on the periphery of society.
His works were carried out first as a Staretz-like health and welfare
worker with no formal ecclesiastical status, and later as an ordained
Greek Orthodox priest. His works among Sydney, Melbourne and
Adelaide prostitutes appears to be the highlight of his active ministry.
An outline of father's active years can be accessed by pressing here
for the
English
version, or here for the
German
version.
